Women's History

Data-Informed
The United States Congress officially proclaimed March as Women’s History Month in 1987. Since then, the United States has featured women and their often unsung contributions to history, society, and culture each March.

But what does it mean to honor this month? And, perhaps more important, why did getting here take until 1987?

Throughout this course, we’ll answer those questions by unraveling the complex story behind women’s history in the United States.
Women's history Month

Let's talk about the resilience of women in the US.

In this course, we won’t shy away from covering the hard topics, including how this observance sometimes misses the mark by tokenizing and alienating the very women it claims to celebrate.

To do that, we’ll break down what this month means and how it began. We’ll also examine the evolution of women’s rights throughout U.S. history and spotlight how you can champion women’s equity and inclusion today.

You will learn:

  • How Women’s History Month Began
  • Where Women’s History Month Has Failed
  • A Brief History of Women’s Rights in America
  • How to advance Gender Equity and Equality
